On February 5th, we will take a field trip to the Segerstrom Center for Performing Arts to watch The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Three beloved stories by Eric Carle, award-winning children’s book illustrator and author, are retold on stage through the magic of black light and fanciful puppets. The Very Hungry Caterpillarfollows the wonderful adventures of a very tiny and very hungry caterpillar as he eats his way through an amazing variety of foods on his path to becoming a beautiful butterfly. High up in the sky, Little Cloud playfully transforms himself into various creatures, including a sheep, and an airplane, a shark and more. The Mixed-Up Chameleon is bored with his life, sitting about predictably changing color all day. Following an adventurous trip to the zoo, he attempts to emulate the beautiful animals he sees before coming to the conclusion that there is value in his own unique self.

Be sure your child dresses appropriately with comfortable shoes for the theatre and walking
Give a BIG breakfast in the morning; snacks/lunches cannot be brought to the theatre
If you’d like, you may dress your child up for this special occasion. For example, boys may wear a button up shirt and nice jeans or khaki pants. Girls may wear a nice spring/summer dress or a skirt. PLEASE keep a close eye on the weather. As of now, it is forecasted to rain. Also, it may get a little chilly inside the theatre, so I would recommend a sweater. Please have your child wear comfortable, closed toed shoes.
