A few years ago, I attended a meeting at the district office where I had an opportunity to review the founding leadership principles of Dr. Stan Corey, who served as IUSD's first superintendent from 1972 - 1987. One of his principles included "Outrageous expectations should be standard" which resonated with me because I set high expectations for my students. Despite being just four and five years old, Room 2's Kindergarteners are held to very high standards, and slowly mature and grow to live up to those high standards. I fully believe that when held to high standards, children will rise to the occasion, and may even surprise you with their maturity and decision making skills. By the end of the school year, you will most definitely see a great change in your children for the better. It's a slow and steady process, but well worth the effort!
