Eleven year old boy, Benjamin Giroux, has Asperger's syndrome- a form of autism. His fifth grade teacher asked her students to write a poem to celebrate National Poetry Month. Benjamin's "I Am" poem has gained a great deal of attention across the nation and helps others understand what it occasionally is like to have Asperger's.
As an educator who previously served as a therapist for children with autism, I am so moved and proud of this young man!
